Biography

Paolo Catenaccio is a curious and dynamic musician who loves sharing his ideas and working on new projects. His expressive and lyrical music seeks to communicate in depth his artistic vision of reality, confident in the power and role of art in the world and in history. Convinced that exchange and open-mindedness should be at the centre of the life of every composer and musician, he loves to work closely with performers, seeking to build a long-term artistic relationship.

His works have been performed in some of the most important institutions and festivals, in Italy and also in other countries, such as Austria, the United Kingdom, Estonia, China and Peru. He has received commissions from important ensembles, chamber groups, soloists and festivals such as Accademia Filarmonica Romana,
ORT – Orchestra della Toscana, PianoLab Festival, PianoSofia Festival, Ensemble Forma Libera and many others. In 2022, he was chosen as one of the best students of Italian conservatories to be part of a special jury at the Biennale Musica with the task of awarding the prize for the best performance and the best composition. He has published with various music publishers, including Da Vinci Publishing, Sconfinarte, Ars Spoletium and Ermes 404.

He founded the ‘Suoni Oltre Confine’ chamber music festival in Minturno, his hometown, of which he is the artistic director. The aim of the season is to give space to young musicians and especially to young composers. The first season of the festival was enthusiastically received and well attended by the citizens of Minturno. ‘We must work to create an ideal example of a community that can enrich all those who are part of it and be an inspiration for those who share our vision of music and the unique and vital experience of participating together in art. Art and music save lives and the main objective of this initiative is to create an ideal space where this can be understood and experienced’. With these words, for the magazine Il FaroOnline, Paolo Catenaccio describes the essence of “Suoni Oltre Confine”, a project organised by Altera srls and which benefits from the collaboration of well-established organisations in the music world, such as Quinte Parallele.
